✨ Do you need to clean your baby’s gum before their teeth come in? ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Yes! Starting a good oral hygiene routine with your baby from a young age can set them up for good habits (and a healthy smile!) for life.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Babies all teethe differently - some will get their first tooth at just a few months old, and some won’t get their first until closer to turning one. There is a usual order in which they come in - but not all babies are the same. For this reason, it can sometimes be difficult to tell which tooth is next!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But even before that first tooth does pop through, you can start caring for your baby’s little mouth.
✨ How to care for tiny teeth before they even emerge! ✨
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Using a clean damp washcloth, or a soft brush (like our Finger Brush) gently wipe your baby’s gums clean.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This can be at any time throughout the day - but try to stick to a rough schedule to help build good habits.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The more your baby gets comfortable with the sensation of having their gums (and later, teeth) cleaned, the easier it will be in the long run! The key is, you want baby to recognise tooth brushing as an important part of their daily routine.
Plus, if your little one does have teeth coming, they may find a gentle brush quite soothing on their tender teething gums. ✨
